Stanford Emergency Medicine offers a range of clinical learning opportunities for medical students, including core and advanced clerkships, visiting student rotations, and programs designed to support students exploring Emergency Medicine as a career.

EM Core Clerkship

Stanford medical students gain hands-on experience in Emergency Medicine through a four-week clinical clerkship focused on patient care, teamwork, and clinical decision-making in the emergency department.

EM Advanced Clerkship

Visiting medical students complete an immersive four-week Emergency Medicine rotation with hands-on clinical experience under the direct supervision of EM faculty and senior residents.

Score Program

Stanford’s Clinical Opportunity for Residency Experience (SCORE) Program provides eligible visiting medical students with mentorship, career development, and a structured Emergency Medicine rotation. The program goal is to draw from people with a variety of backgrounds and life experiences.
