What is Precision Emergency Medicine?
Precision EM is a new model for patient care that takes into account differences in the environment, lifestyle, and genes, and through data science and technology, enables health care providers to increase the variables that factor into care pathways and treatment decisions.
This information is utilized in decision-making specific for each individual patient. Emergency medicine researchers can use the same data to assess entire patient populations and develop approaches that impact whole communities.
Precision EM is not based on one technology, but many incremental steps in five key areas.
Practicing Precision Emergency Medicine
The ultimate goal of precision EM is to continuously improve the efficacy of emergency care targeted diagnostic and management strategies that result in better care for patients.
Because precision EM is a strategy for continuous improvement, there is no end point - just unlimited possibilities.
