VALUE-BASED CARE
Stanford Emergency Medicine is a leader in providing cost-effective care to get the right patient to the right level of care within our health system. We recognize the importance of the healthcare journey for any patient, and strive to optimize the care before a patient visits the emergency department, during their visit, and after they have been discharged.
CASE REVIEW COMMITTEE
The Emergency Medicine Case Review Committee focuses on root cause analyses through taxonomy style assessment using human factors engineering, resulting in fewer review cases, increased trust between collaborating providers, and more self-referrals.
Patient Care
CARING FOR GERIATRIC PATIENTS
Stanford Emergency Medicine has developed a unique and multi-disciplinary assessment tool to assess risk of falls to guide interventions for fall prevention after discharge.
APP-BASED EFFICIENCY
We have increased the efficiency of the admit process through the creation of an admit workflow using online/app-based technology.
OPTIMIZING THE DISCHARGE PROCESS
Stanford Emergency Medicine has innovated the patient discharge referral process with a workflow for accurate and timely follow-up appointments, and helping guide patients through insurance obstacles and clinic availability.
Training for Continuous Innovation
Stanford Emergency Medicine has crafted a dedicated quality improvement curriculum through both the emergency department and institution-wide guided courses for residents, fellows, and attending physicians interested in learning more and advancing projects in quality improvement and sustainability.
We created pioneering emergency medicine fellowships in innovation, operations, and informatics, and partnered with Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign to train cross-disciplinary fellows in emergency department innovation.
