Health Volunteer Overseas 2016 Golden Apple Award
Dr. Ewen Wang
We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Ewen Wang has received the Health Volunteer Overseas 2016 Golden Apple Award.
The purpose of the Golden Apple Award, established by the HVO Board of Directors in 2006, is to recognize the exceptional contributions of HVO volunteers in support of HVO's mission, organization, and/or project sites. The honor recognizes work in curriculum development, mentoring of faculty, students, clinicians or fellow volunteers, didactic or clinical training, development of educational resources, leadership and/or extraordinary contribution to the sustainability and effectiveness of HVO.
Dr. Wang was nominated by the staff at Health in Harmony (Indonesia) for her efforts over the years including establishing the relationship with HVO, thereby bringing much needed expertise to ASRI. They noted that she has “volunteered at ASRI three times and have become a staple at the clinic and in the community. Her family led the development of the ASRI Kids program – an after-school conservation and health education program for youth that includes field trips held in local schools – and continues to provide support and leadership for it. Further, Dr. Wang has helped developed a reporting system for tracking medical trends through our medical records database. Those reports are now crafted quarterly and drive medical programming, education events and supply needs. She continues to act as an advisor and advocate for Health In Harmony and ASRI, lending her expertise as the program grows, and making connections such as that with HVO. Dr. Wang has gone above and beyond the typical volunteer 'duties as assigned' and contributed to the improved efficiency and tracking that make our programs so successful.”
Congratulations Ewen. We are very proud of you!
