Our mission is to be leaders in the field of Social Emergency Medicine by
1. Developing a rigorous research agenda that identifies health disparities and elicits the role and impact of social determinants of health in emergency medicine; conducting ground-breaking research and disseminating these findings.
2. Creating innovative educational programming for a broad range of health care
providers from students to residents, to attendings and ancillary staff with the goal of stimulating discussions and collaboration in Social Emergency Medicine.
3. Designing and studying novel ED-based interventions that confront the social determinants of health, with a particular focus on community service and engagement.
4. Creating and sustaining strong interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaborations, research networks and educational programs.
