Ways to Give
Mission Statement of the Stanford Emergency Department
The mission of the Stanford Emergency Department is to provide excellent medical care in an environment of dignity, pride, and respect for our patients and staff with an emphasis on service, education, and discovery.
Stanford's Emergency Department serves as a vital medical resource for the community and region, and supports both the Stanford University Hospital and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. In addition to providing expert lifesaving treatment 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the doctors and staff provide urgent care for anyone who seeks assistance, regardless of ability to pay. The Emergency Department is also our community's front line responder in the event of any multi-casualty incident, large scale disaster or pandemic.
For the benefit of people living in the Bay Area and far beyond, Emergency Department faculty and staff engage in research that leads to innovative medical advances and improved emergency care. The residency training program, under the auspices of the Division of Emergency Medicine, continuously trains the next generation of emergency medicine specialists. With Stanford's compelling record of scientific breakthroughs, its long tradition of providing expert and compassionate patient care, and its history of training many of the nation's top physicians, we are well positioned to create further advances in the delivery of emergency medical care, launch investigations that lead to treatment innovations, and educate tomorrow's health care leaders.
