Letter to Prospective Students
Dear Doctor:
I am the director of the Stanford Emergency Medicine International Visiting Scholar's Program (SEMI VSP). The Stanford Emergency Medicine International Visiting Scholars Program is an intensive 8-12 week educational program here at the Stanford University Medical Center. Visiting scholars observe emergency department practices at Stanford for an extended period of time, as well as observe in other areas of the hospital (ICU, operating room).Additionally, scholars will have the opportunity to participate in research projects, compose lectures on topics in emergency medicine, participate in educational conferences, observe pre-hospital practices (fly in the Life Flight helicopter/ride with a local ambulance unit), and learn about ED administration and residency development.Visiting Scholars will also receive up to date certification in pediatric (PALS), cardiac (ACLS) and trauma (ATLS) life support. The program can be tailored to meet the needs of the individual physician.
